Book Review: Clever Katya

Tittle: Clever Katya

Retold by: Julia Donaldson

Illustrator: Jane Kochnewitz

Publisher: Ginn Publications

This book is about a story of Katya who is a intelligent girl. The Czar of Russia went out of his couch when he saw a farmer eating some bread. Since he was hungry, he asked the farmer for some bread. When the Czar tasted the bread, he thought it was the most scrumptious bread he ever tasted. He asked the farmer to know the person who made the bread. The farmer told him that it was his daughter, Katya who made the bread. The Czar gave three unsolvable problems to Katya. She cleverly evaded all the questions and backfired them at the Czar. The Czar was amazed of her intelligence. He decided to marry her and brought her to the castle. She made him promise that she will take home something she loves the most in the castle if he was angry with her before she was married. They lived happily in the castle. After a year, the Czar quarrelled with Katya and told her to leave the castle. She locked him in a chest when he was sleeping and brought it home. He was surprised when he thought she had kidnapped him. Katya told the Czar the promise he made. He lived happily ever after.

The death of KING OF POP

Michael Jackson passed away on 26 June. I'll never forget that day. I really couldn't believe that he's dead. He left the world so fast. I wish that he is still alive. I was watching and listening to his songs for the whole day. Whar an important man just left me. Did you know that he was going to have a concert in London on 6 July and he just died. He used to be one of the best legends on earth. The songs like THRILLER, BEAT IT, BAD, SMOOTH CRIMINAL, BILLY JEAN and YOU ROCK MY WORLD became of the biggest songs ever. He started singing at 5 years old. He was also a rich man with plenty of money. But then everything when bad to worse, he had a platic surgery, throwing a baby from an appartment and many others. Then he started going to jail and because of that everybody hated him. Everything was in vain. Then he just died. I wish I could become a singer like him one day but not by his attitude.

This is a poem for all my buddies,

When things go wrong,
as they sometimes will,
When the road you're,
Trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low,
and the debts are high,
And you want to smile,
But you have to sigh,
When care is pressing,
You down a bit,
Rest if you must,
But don't you quit.

Success is failure,
Turned inside out,
The silver tint of,
The clouds of doubt,
And you can never tell,
How close you are,
It may be a near when,
It seems a far.

So, stick to the fight,
When you're hardest hit,
It's when things go wrong,
That you mustn't quit

My golf tournament in Johor

I did not go anywhere for the holidays except playing golf around Malaysia and doing some priceless revision as UPSR is not far away. I played in Johor Bahru which was very far away from Shah Alam. I was very excited and nervous because my father told me that he would take me to Thailand for a tournament by a aeroplane if I win. I stayed in a hotel ''Kings Hotel'' which was quite luxurious. I owed my father for all his hardwork and money. I was very nervous on the first day as it was quite hot. I had to suffer with 6 hours in the sun walking. My father motivated and kept me relaxed. After the 6 kilometres walk, i had acomplished a win. I was suprised because I was quite far away from the leader. That showed to never to give up at all times. Anything can happen at anytime. That's why we should give our best. I hope to continue and progress in this sport as my father is believing in me. I also would like to be a professional golfer once I grow up. But, I have to concentrate on my studies because this is a vert important year to me.

Michael Jackson

Ah music. Music rocks for me. I love music because it helps relax my mind especially when I am tired. Do you know why? It helps because I am entertained by the sound, lyrics, rythm and beats which makes me active and hyper usually at school. Speaking of music, I really admire Michael Jackson. I think everybody knows him but not anymore because he doesn't sing anymore. He was really popular. I listen to his songs everyday in morning in the car and after school. I just can stop it. I like so many songs sang by him. He is one of the most popular singers before and I don't think I will get bored of him until I am no longer in the world. I hope to become popular like him but that is not my ambition. Thanks for reading friends. Hope you like my paragraph.

The handball competition

To my dear readers,

I play handball for my school. There many other players in the squad including my friends. There was a competition for us to be played. We were all excited for the event especially Nazrul. During the day, we came to school and changed into a jersey given by Puan Norsyuhada. After that, we went to the Cochrane school field. Once we reached there, we were all ready to play some handball. Unfortunately, our match took quite long, so we practiced hard. Once our school name was called out, we went to the court and were ready. While the game was going on, the teachers gave us some moral support. We fought hard but lost very badly because we made too many costly mistakes and were scolded by teachers as we did not do well in the match. We had to win the second match to qualify for the next match. We played very well, had many chances and tried our best to score. But, the luck was not on our side as our goalkeeper let in a goal easily. My dreams were shaterred after the defeat and we were sad because we were knocked out. The teachers gave us some support and asked us to never give up. Although we did not win, we tried our best. That is the most important thing.

My birthday trip to Sunway Lagoon

To my friends and buddies,

My birthday was actually on the 30 of April. I did not celebrate my birthday so I went to my cousin's house which was on the same day because he had a party. My parents did not buy me a cake this time but they bought many things for me like a soccer ball, clothes and a SUPERMAN belt. I was very happy with thoose presents. Not only that, we also went to SUNWAY LAGOON. Firstly, we woke up and did our daily routine. One hour later, we reached our destination. We were excited especially myself as it was my first time here. We went to put our valuable things in the locker so it would not get lost. Then, all of us went for a Roller Coaster ride. It was a very thrilling and exciting ride because all of us were screaming and laughing. After that, we went to the Colarado Splash. It was so fun because we get to slide so fast that we couldn't see anything. We also experienced the the waterfall. The water was so fresh. Lastly, we went to meet the huge tigers. They looked so big sized and well-built. I couldn't believe my eyes as I have never seen one. We took some pictures of it. Then, we went back home with a happy face as we enjoyed the trip. This is a birthday trip not to be forgotten. I hope to have an even more wonderful birthday next year.

About golf

To all of my beloved friends,

This may help. Golf is a game of concentration and using your mental strength. It is also a very fun and interesting game. I love to play it. In fact, I play it every weekend. You also need practice and belief in yourself. It is like studying. You can't just go and do your exams. Practice makes perfect. Although, you do not succeed, keep on trying. Do not give up. Always think positive. Success is failure turned inside out, the silver tint of doubt, the clouds of doubt and you can never tell how close you are, it may be near when it seems a far. So, stick to the fight when you're hardest hit. Its when things go wrong that you mustn't quit.

Why should we care for our parents?

We should always care for our parents because they took care of us since we were babies. They also gave us a place to stay to protect us. Other than that, they helped us in acedemy and many others. Despite their hard work, we still do not respect them. But they still spend time on guiding and helping us with our problems especially school homework. They provide us with transport to school, clothes, shoes and many others. There is nothing else to ask for other than their kindness and care to us. We should at least produce good marks in our exam to make them proud and show that we can do it. This is why we should care for our parents.

Pulau Tioman

I just came back from this wonderful island. I went to Pulau Tioman for my holidays. I went there with my family, cousins, uncles and aunties. It was really fun. We went there by three cars. I and my cousins were very excited and did many activities there. We also stayed in a hotel for4 days 3 nights. We went snorkling in the middle of the sea and my cousins were very scared to snorkle in the rough and deep sea but it was fun and exciting. We also had a ride ont he boat around the island. After that, we also build sandcastles together and collected beautiful seashells. My mother brought some food to eat at the seaside. Besides that, we also went in a '' banana boat''. It was so scary which made us all fall on each other. Futhermore, we also enjoyed the delicious steamboat in the night at a restaurant. This is a holiday which I cannot forget forever.

Letter to a character

Dear tree,

I am Kiishaan Tharmalingam from 6B. You are very helpful and kind to the boy. Although, he only came to you for help but you still were kind to him which was a good thing to do. You were also very generous for giving him your body parts. His behaviour really upsets me. But, you also gave him many things that he didn't have. You remind so much of my parents. I am just glad that he was with you again. The way you'd sacraficed for the boy is the same way as parents sacrafice for their children. The boy should be happy to have such a caring friend.

Book Review

Tittle: Caring Tree
Author: Sheikh Hassam Seylan ' Abad
Illustator: Raihan Munif Bahasuan
Editor: Lim Puay Hiang
Publisher: Abad Ceria Enterprise

Book Review:

The story is about a boy and a caring tree. Everyday, he would come to play with the tree happily. He would climb the tree and eat the fruits. The boy and tree liked each other. As he grew up, he didn't want to play with the tree because he wanted to play with toys. The tree offered him to take it's fruits to sell and get money. For quite some time, the boy did not come back to visit the tree. The next time the boy came back, he asked the tree for something else. He asked the tree for something to build a house and the tree gave him it's branches. The next thing he asked for was the tree's trunk to build a boat. At last, when the boy was was old and wrinkly, he went back to the tree. The tree told him that I have nothing for you. Although the man was always asking for more, the tree welcomed him back.

The part that I like the most in the story is when the tree welcomed him back although the boy repeatedly asked the tree for something each time he came back.

I learned that we should not only seek a friend when we require their help. We should always keep in touch with them, regardless of the fact that we need something from them. Besides, I learned that we should always help out a friend in need.
